A.C.T.I.V.E. Volunteer Program



WHAT IS A.C.T.I.V.E.


We at the Forsyth Township Police Department are committed to finding quality volunteers who will enhance the work of the Police Department. We believe that a volunteer workforce will strengthen community relations and build strong partnerships.


A.C.T.I.V.E stands for Adults Committed Toward Implementing Volunteer Efforts and is a subsidiary of the national VIPS Program or Volunteers In Police Services. The Forsyth Township Police Department currently has four volunteer members. Our volunteers are community members who come from all walks of life and employment backgrounds whom have a strong desire to serve their community as volunteers.


WHAT DOES A.C.T.I.V.E. DO

Provide home safety checks for vacationing residents;

Provide presence patrols to schools, parks and businesses;

Business checks;

Provide traffic control and assistance on accident scenes;

Observe and report any suspicious activity to Officers;

Assist Officers in locating missing persons;

Assist with special details such as, parades and community events.


JOINING THE TEAM


First and foremost, all applicants must have a strong desire to serve your community as a volunteer;

Fill out an A.C.T.I.V.E. application;

Complete a background check and fingerprints;

Applicants must be 21 years of age;

Must donate a minimum of eight volunteer hours per month to the program;

No Felony convictions and possess a clear criminal background.




The Forsyth Township Police Department will provide all training and equipment.
